Easy Breezy Summer Cowl Materials: approximately 100m of a DK weight yarn. 4 or 5mm - 80cm circular needle (Adjust to obtain gauge) 1 stitch marker Samples: Small Grey Hempton on 5mm needles 40-inch circumference Large Green Ultra Pima on 4mm needles 54-inch circumference Gauge: 16 sts to 4ins in garter stitch Abbreviations: K – Knit P – Purl, K2tog – knit two stitches together YO – yarn over SSK – slip two stitches one at a time knitwise, place left needle through front of slipped stitches from left to right and knit the two stitches together. Note ¹ Round 6 ends with a YO, before beginning Round 7 remember to take the yarn over the needle and back to the front of the work to start purling. Based on gauge and desired length of cowl S(L) Cast on 100(176) sts Join in the round making sure the stitches are not twisted and work as follows. Round 1: *K2, P2, repeat from * to end of round. Rounds 2 - 4: Repeat Round 1. pg. 1
Start Lace rounds: Round 5: Purl. Round 6: *K2tog, YO, repeat from * to end of round. Round 7¹: Purl. Round 8: *YO, SSK, repeat from * to end of round. Repeat Rounds 5 – 8 five more times. Next Round: Purl. Garter Stitch Rounds Round 1: Knit. Round 2: Purl. Round 3: Knit. Round 4: Purl Round 5: Knit. Round 6: Purl. Cast off loosely knitwise using a larger needle if necessary. Fasten off and weave in ends. Block and enjoy.
