In 2004, the City of Dallas Parks Department published a comprehensive plan for turning underutilized land and surface parking into a veritable net of public parks in the downtown area. Over the past year, SWA Dallas has been invited to compete against locally and nationally recognized firms for several of these. As a result of the proposal prepared for the Belo Garden competition, SWA was awarded the contract for the 3 acre Pacific Plaza largest downtown urban park--the 3 acre Pacific Plaza. This award makes the Dallas office the only local landscape architecture firm to have won a public park project associated with the 2004 downtown Dallas parks master plan.
