Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations ADVERTISEMENT ANNOUNCEMENT FOR INVITATION TO BID (ITB)
Tender No~ GCPIURT/1461ROK-®7 CLOSING DATE: 14 February 2017-16:30hrs [EAT/Eastern Africa Time] Suitably qualified and experienced Firms are invited to present their best offer to assist as consultants in the construction of a Marine Hatchery within the premises of the Seit Al Rass Campus of the State University of Zanzibar, 7km north of Stone Town (Zanzibar). The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) is the implementing agency of this Trust Fund project funded by the Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOlCA). The hatchery will be designed by an International Engineer and will consist mainly of one new production unit (one store roofed concrete building of about 1.600sqm), three existing auxiliary constructions (about 300sqm) that will need to be renewed and three small ponds as part of the water treatment of the effluent. The project has a value that require, according to the Zanzibar Board of Architects Engineers and BoQ Surveyors, the support of all the three different professional figures. Under the overall supervision of the FAO Representative in Tanzania, the technical supervision the Facilities Management Officer from FAO Head Quarters, and in collaboration with the International Engineer and the FAO Chief Technical Adviser, the applicants will provide registered professionals to undertake the below list of tasks: 1. Revise the project designs elaborated by the International Engineer, and inform about all aspects of National legislation, and eventually Municipal legislation, on works of this nature, including construction permit or any other certificate needed to undertake the works. 2. Assist the International Engineer, providing the quotations of the BOO based on experience of the Zanzibar market, to complete the bill of quantities. 3. Prepare and support the renewal process of the three minor buildings already existing in the farm area (renew doors and fixtures, electrical upgrade, minor changes) (providing drawings if needed). 4. Design a small service building to accommodate a changing room with toilets for the hatchery staff. 5. Assist in the preparation of the tenders and the selection of the construction companies for the award of the works; 6. Present the projects to the local authorities to obtain the building permits (providing all stamping and signatures necessary to complete the process). 7. Supervise the construction phase, assuring that the contractor complies with the quality standards, according to the specifications. 8. Support FAO on related aspects until the completion of the facility construction. Qualification requirements: Candidates must provide evidence of previous experience of undertaking engineering work, the professional qualifications and the certification of the registration at the Zanzibar Board of Engineers & Architects. 1
