BY LORI CATHEY The 2012 Gibson County Pioneers Baseball team opened their season this past week with 3 wins and 1 loss. Coach Corry Essany said, “I am extremely excited about
this year’s team. We have a ton of senior leadership to go along with two very good juniors and a phenomenal sophomore class. We have more depth than any other year since I’ve been at
Gibson County. We should be a solid hitting team from the top of our lineup to the bottom and I believe we will be great defensively. Our only weak spot will be a lack of experienced pitching,
but I believe we have the talent and potential to excel at that position as well. I expect us to compete for a district championship along with Milan, Covington, and Dyersburg.”
