Today’s Game: Drury hosts Wisconsin-Parkside in their 2016 home opener as well as their Great Lakes Valley Conference opener. The Panthers are 5-3 having won three of four last weekend at the Henderson State tournament. The Rangers are 1-8 and are looking for their first win in six game. UW-Parkside is coming off of a loss at home to Olivet Nazarene 3-2 on Wednesday. GLVC STANDINGS
Panthers open O’Reilly: Drury plays their first home game of 2015 on Friday hosting UW-Parkside. The Panthers were 10-1 at home last year and have won 13 of their last 15 on their home court dating back to Oct. 11, 2014. GLVC opener: Drury’s first home game is also their conference opener. The Panthers finished fourth in the West Division last year going 11-7 in the league. Drury was picked to finish fourth again in the preseason GLVC coaches’ poll. Bahner in 3rd season as head coach: Head coach Jenifer Bahner is in her third season guiding the Panthers program and entered this year having guided Drury to one of their best seasons as an NCAA-II program. The Panthers went 21-11 last year posting their best winning percentage since 1994. Bahner is 42-25 as Drury’s head coach. She came to Springfield following a five year stint at Cowley County (Kan.) Community College where her teams won two national junior college titles, were national runner-ups twice and had a third place finish while posting a record of 177-16. All-Time Series: Drury leads the all-time series against Wisconsin-Parkside 10-5. The Panthers won at Parkside last year 3-2 and rallied for the win after losing the first two sets. Drury and Parkside went five sets in 2014 as well with the Panthers winning 3-2. The Rangers last win against Drury came at the O’Reilly Family Event Center with a 3-0 win over the Panthers on Nov. 9, 2013. Drury coming off two wins at Henderson St.: Drury swept both their matches Saturday in the Henderson State tournament and ended the event winning three of four in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. The Panthers beat West Alabama 3-1 in the first match then defeated host Henderson State 3-0 on Saturday after splitting two games on Friday.

The Panthers rebounded from a first set loss to win the next three sets against West Alabama (5-2) to start the day. Drury had 10 blocks in the four-set match led by Carlie Fangman's three blocks. Four different Drury players had at least one block with two others that picked up an assist on a block. Brooke Antenen had 11 kills while Bentley Mara added nine. Drury finished play in the Henderson State tournament sweeping the host team 25-23, 25-15 and 25-22. Antenen racked up 13 kills, 12 digs and two aces in the win while Kendra Sater led with 18 assists.
