Counselor Job Description: Counselors directly supervise campers and are responsible for the overall management and leadership of a cabin and/or groups of campers in daily camp activities. They will lead, motivate and provide a safe camp program which fosters participant’s social, spiritual, physical and intellectual growth. Responsibilities include creating a strong team with your cabin, maintaining a bully free community, teaching activities during the day, and providing leadership and being a positive role model for campers. Minimum Qualifications:         

Willingness and ability to work with children, outdoors, 6 days a week Supervise all aspects of the camper’s day, including waking up, clean up, meals, rest hour, evening activities, getting ready for bed, overnights and after hours duties as assigned Encourage physical, emotional and spiritual growth and positive character development in all campers Ability to assist in teaching an activity Good character, integrity, maturity, and adaptability Willingness and ability to live within a close, camp community Enthusiasm, sense of humor, patience, and self-control Model Camp Dress Code Policy (appearance should be appropriate) At least 18 years of age

Specific Responsibilities:          

Learn and lead camp songs and skits Learn the likes/ dislikes of each participant Recognize and respond to opportunities for problem solving in the group Provide opportunities for the group so that each individual experiences success during camp Provide opportunities for discussion of individual or group problems or concerns Help each participant meet the goals established by the camp for camper development Write letters home for each camper on a weekly basis Know and implement emergency procedures as needed and participate in mandatory drills Inform their Village Coordinator of any camper or staff problems, concerns or issues Other duties as assigned

Responsible To: Village Coordinator Salary Information: $225 per week (meals & lodging included. specialty certifications: Ropes, Lifeguard, Archery Specialists add an additional $15 per week)
