Thank you for purchasing the MANHATTAN ® Serial/Parallel Combo PCI Express Card, Model 158183. Compliant with PCI Express 1.0a specifications, this card can be configured to achieve baud rates of up to 230,400 bps and takes advantage of PCI Express data transfer speeds of up to 2.5 Gbps. By following the simple instructions in this manual, you’ll soon be adding two DB9 ports and a DB25 port to PCI Express-enabled desktop systems in order to connect and communicate with serial peripheral devices. For Windows 2000 / XP / Server 2003 1. On the Windows desktop, click "Start," then "Run." 2. Enter "D:\PCIe\MCS9901\XP\PCIeSetup32.exe," then click "OK." 3. Click “Install” to install the drivers. 4. Click “Exit” to complete the driver installation. 5. Shut down the PC. 6. Place the PCIe card into PCIe slot, then power on the system. 7. Once the system is booted, Windows will automatically start installing the device driver software.

For Windows XP-x64 / Server 2003-x64 1. On the Windows desktop, click "Start," then "Run." 2. Enter "D:\PCIe\MCS9901\XP64\PCIeSetup64.exe," then click "OK." 3. Click “Install” to install the drivers. 4. Click “Exit” to complete the driver installation. 5. Shut down the PC. 6. Place the PCIe card into PCIe slot, then power on the system. 7. Once the system is booted, Windows will automatically start installing the device driver software. 3

Verifying Windows Driver Installation 1. Right click on "My Computer," then click "Manage." Click on "Device Manager." 4

2. Click on "+" in front of "Ports (COM & LPT)" and confirm that "High-Speed PCIe Serial Port" is listed twice and that "PCIe ECP Parallel Port" is listed once. hardware installatioN 1. Turn off the power to the computer system. 2. Unplug the power cord and remove your computer’s cover. Serial Port 2 3. Remove the slot bracket from an available PCIe slot. 4. Carefully align the card’s bus connector with the selected PCIe slot on the motherboard. Push the board down firmly. 5. Connect the system power source to the Serial Port 1 board’s power connector. 6. Replace the slot bracket’s holding screw to secure the card. 7. Replace the computer cover and reconnect the power cord.
