Parent Connection January 5, 2018 The mission of the Hills-Beaver Creek Schools is to empower students to develop the skills, attitudes, and desire to reach their fullest potential and achieve excellence in all that they do.
End of the Quarter The end of the second quarter will be on January 19. Grades will be recorded and sent home to parents to parents on January 25. Along with the report cards, parents will receive information concerning benchmarking that was done prior to Christmas break. Students in grades K-2 will receive information concerning FastBridge benchmarking and students in grades 3-5 will receive information concerning STAR benchmarking.
Box Tops for Education
Community Education
The elementary student council continues to collect Box Tops for Education. The proceeds from Box Top collections go to support student council activities. This year the student council has purchased prizes for our Pride Store, organized our Fall Festival, made a donation to the Rock County Share Program and purchased banners for the elementary hallway. There is a drop-off for box tops in the elementary school.
Basketball camp for 3rd and 4th grade students will continue tomorrow morning at the elementary gym. Our camp for K-2nd grade students will begin tomorrow morning. Dates for camp are January 6, 13 and 20. Times for each grade level are listed below. • •
3-4 – 9:00 until 10:00 K-2 – 10:00 until 10:45
Accelerated Reader Update The company that created Accelerated Reader recently did a major update to their service that has created problems on their Parent Connect website. Parents are having trouble logging into their child's AR account or are no longer receiving notification emails/texts. The company is aware of the problem and issued the following response, "The Accelerated Reader 360 program at your school is going through a transition, and the updates as a part of this transition will be changing the Home Connect experience. Due to this transition, there will be a short period of time where the Home Connect E-Mail Notifications will be unavailable. We anticipate this functionality to be returned to your site soon." 5th and 6th Grade Basketball
5th and 6th grade basketball teams will be playing in tournaments this weekend. A full schedule of tournaments and practices is at:
ECFE ECFE classes will continue in January on Tuesday nights. ECFE is designed for families with children from birth to five. For more information contact Macy Ellingson at [email protected].

5th and 6th grade band concert – 7:00 on January 18 at H-BC Elementary January 19 will be the end of the second quarter January 22 will be the start of the third quarter We will host a 5th and 6th grade basketball tournament in Hills on February 3.
