Regatta Information The last Regatta for the fall season is this Saturday in Philadelphia. For those of you that have not attended the Schuylkill in the past. Parking is limited and you may have to walk for some distance to the race sight and tent. The best parking is up on the hill past the 3 angels statue so make sure you have rain gear and comfortable shoes. Kevin Edged will be towing the chuck wagon. Arrive at the race sight at 5:30 am on Sunday to set up tent and rig the boats. Since, we are not allowed at the race sight until after 5 pm. on Saturday we will wait until Sunday to set up. Rowers need to check into the hotel at approximately 5:30 pm on Saturday. Mr. O’Connor will be there to assign rooms. There is no formal meeting that evening but the rowers may plan to meet up for dinner. Additional information is posted on the website regarding directions, etc.
Equipment Maintenance Mr. Harris has found the key for the Wake less Motor but is still not able to remove motor from boat.
The High School Team only will have an early practice on Monday, October 31st to prepare boats and equipment for storage for the winter. The bus will leave the High School around 2:45 pm that day. Winter Season Sam reported that the High School team will have 2 more days at Beat Fitness next week and then have off until the week of November 14th. An e-mail will go out with the days and time of practice before then. Last year the Development team practiced 2 days a week in the Winter. We will let you know after talking to the other coaches what the schedule will be for the development team and when they will begin practice. The scrimmage was a great success at Groveton Boathouse. Sam has discussed the possibility with the other schools to have more of these in the Spring. There are three required races for the High School team in the Winter Season. The Biathlon at 3-Rivers Rowing and 2 sprint races (one the last weekend in January and one at the end of February at North Allegheny). Fundraising – Given by Sharon Peck Bingo – Every family is required to sell 4 tickets at $20.00 each for the bingo. All families should have received their tickets. The ticket price includes buffet dinner (donated by Cindy Boczar), non-alcoholic beverages (donated from Sue Katich’s work) and 8 regular games. We will be selling tickets for raffle baskets, 50/50, and additional special cards the night of the Bingo. Please sign up on volunteer spot we need as much help as we can get. Also, Sharon Peck is taking donated items to be used for raffle baskets. Sew Sporty Fundraiser – Sew Sporty has offered us a fundraising opportunity for the holiday season. I don’t have all the details, but the gist of it is any purchases made during our assigned fundraising period the crew team would receive 20% of the purchases. I think that if you send them to my house you would receive free shipping but since these purchases would be as gifts, I don’t know how I would get them to you without the rowers knowing. You can have them shipped to your house and pay for the shipping though. Susan Deligati asked about the purchase of hats. Sharon stated that you can purchase the hats through Sew Sporty they carry the same hat we just had a surplus that we were trying to get rid of. This would be a great way to get your extra hat, t-shirt and the crew team would get something back. Cindy thanked everyone that was able to make it to the meeting and the meeting adjourned at 8:15 pm.
