For the Treasure’s report, Shella reported that there is $17,023.50 available in the checking account, and $20,050.05 available in the savings account. The board received stipend requests from several staff. Deanna Garlow: $107.80
Loni Kindel: $100.00
Rachel Franz: $150.00
Gail Whitley: $199.09
Tricia Koester: $150.00
Krystal Breese: $330.00
Derek Holmes: $175.00 for student of the month lunches at Pizza Hut, $150.00 for the teacher Christmas Party, and an unknown amount for teachers meals at Parent Teacher Conferences. They also approved $250.00 for Derek Holmes and Mary Lisa Thoman, and $65.49 for Katie Nease. The board talked about Shop Concordia Cards which have been selling for three weeks. Niki reported she has been picking up and filling orders as they have been coming in, and Shella reported that there has been $680 deposited from the sales of the cards to date. Sherri reported that coupons have been turned in for 100 items on the first day for the Great American Fundraiser, and Derek said the BMX bike show would be October 9th at 9:00am. The board discussed the playground equipment again for the 3rd and 4th grade side. Derek said all the teachers were on board for the PIE board to get pricing for new equipment and mulch. Sherri said she was getting pricing for mulch and new swing sets. She said she talked with a company out of Salina and got an estimate of $2,300 to mulch the 3rd and 4th grade playground. She said she went with measurements of 7inches down and 100 cubic yards. The board thought it would be a good idea to get pricing from Champlin Tire, as well since they are a local business, and asked her to make sure that the price from the Salina Company was right, because some of the teachers in attendance thought that sounded pretty low. She said she also priced new swing sets, and they ranged in price from $6-$8,000. The teachers thought just replacing the seats, the chains, and putting on a new coat of paint would be fine because they thought the structures themselves were ok. Tricia Koester mentioned that it would be a good idea to level out the rocks before putting the new mulch down. The board talked about the carnival again, and the teachers said there is usually one teacher from each grade as a representative, and that each grade comes up with two games, and the supplies for those games. Kieli said she would get an email out to teachers interested in being the grade representative. Kelsey said she talked with Eric Gilliland the
College Baseball coach, and he said he could get about 40 of his players to help with games and whatever else they needed them for. Sherri said she is working on costs for bulk supplies for the classrooms that were talked about at the last meeting, and Arlene Ediger asked Sherri to make sure she included the special-ed classrooms. Sherri said she was getting pricing for 40 class rooms. Arlene Ediger also talked with the board about getting balls for the 3rd and 4th grade side. She brought to the boards attention that students are having to bring their own soccer and footballs to school to play with at recess. She did give Sherri a supply book of what the teachers thought would be better quality balls with amounts and pricing. Traci Wachs said that Kindergarten is going to the Courtland Depot Market and each student is asked to bring $2 for the cost. She asked the board if it would be alright if they reimbursed any teacher that had to pay for a student who wasn’t able to pay the $2. The board agreed.
