PARENTS WEEKEND FALL 2016 GENERAL INFORMATION
Parents Weekend activities commence on Thursday, October 13 boarding families may take their children off campus to enjoy a dinner and to sample the flavor of our local restaurants. If you are not planning on taking your child out to dinner on Thursday evening, a meal will be available for the boarding students in the IMS dining hall. On Friday, October 14, all Middle and Upper School parents can attend classes with their child for a peek at “IMS Today”, please RSVP to Michelle Booth. In the afternoon, there will be athletic contests beginning at 3:00 p.m. on Friday afternoon. Boarding parents may take their children off campus for dinner. All families are welcome to join us for an informal family dinner in the dining hall. Saturday, October 15 will be dedicated to parent/teacher conferences, a talk by Jody Soja, and a Student Art display, after which you are free to enjoy your weekend away, with school back in session on Wednesday, October 19. Boarders are free to leave for the long weekend on Friday night after all commitments have been met or on Saturday between 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. All boarding students must sign out of the dormitory before leaving campus. Boarding students are expected to return between 5:00 - 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 18. Due to the short turn-around-time, please be sure to return your conference time request by September 26. You may FAX your RESPONSE (860-435-0641) or email me indicating your teacher choices and your time preferences. A self-addressed response envelope is enclosed for your convenience as well. Inquiries regarding Parents Weekend should be directed to Michelle Booth at 860-435-0871 x117, fax 860-435-0641, or by email at: [email protected]. I will do my best to accommodate your first choice time block. If your first choice time block and chosen teachers are full you will be given the next available. Parent/teacher conference schedules, maps, and nametags can be picked up outside the Dining Hall upon arrival. Please plan to arrive about 15 minutes before your first teacher conference so that you may pick up your packet. Conferences for boarding students in grades 7, 8, and 9 will be scheduled with the four teachers requested. Conferences for day students in grades 7, 8, and 9 will be scheduled with the three teachers requested. Conferences for grades 5 and 6 will be scheduled with all of their teachers. A request to meet your child’s advisor or tutor will be in addition to chosen subjects. You must RSVP to get conferences they are not done automatically. The fall is a busy time for The Northwest Corner of Connecticut and accommodations may be tight. We suggest you make arrangements as soon as possible. An accommodations list is posted on the website in the Visitor’s Center for your convenience. Please join us for this special weekend. It’s a great time to meet the IMS community, cheer on our athletic teams, be inspired by student artwork, and take in the fall foliage. We look forward to welcoming you to campus!
