CHCA Winter Term 2017 January 3-13, 2017 Course Description for: Park City, Utah: Winter Sport Instructor(s): Mr. Stephen Carter Course Type: Domestic US Overnight Service Hours: none Maximum enrollment: 40 Minimum enrollment: 15 Length of trip (if applicable): 6 days 5 nights The Park City Skiing Winter Term will offer students the opportunity to experience a variety of snow and ski related activities in gorgeous Park City, Utah. Students of any ski ability who possess a willingness to learn will be taught basic ski principles at Perfect Overview: North before embarking on a six day, five night trip to Park City to take on some of the best skiing in the nation. In addition to skiing, students will be able to sample a variety of unique offerings in a gorgeous natural setting. Course will also offer a PE credit for qualifying students. 1. Experience God’s creation firsthand through natural beauty Reading Into Thin Air by Jon Krakauer Component: Writing Students will be expected to journal in response to the reading component and to Component: complete a fitness journal as part of the PE credit of the course. Grade based on: Participation, Cooperation, Writing Description: Park City, Utah: Winter Sports will be an amazing Winter Term experience. Students will sample what Park City has to offer from intense ski slopes and winter sports to personal reflections and exciting food. After training at Perfect North, students will board a plane for Utah and lodge within walking distance of the largest ski are in the United States—Park City Mountain Resort. The students will gather in groups for daily reflections and memorable moments, and they will also be given individual reflection/devotional time in one of the most beautiful settings in North America. In addition to skiing, students will be encouraged to partake in a variety of other activities which may include everything from snowshoeing adventures and tours of the Utah Olympic Park to dog sledding and snowmobiling. Park City is also known for its hot air balloon rides, cross country skiing, and tubing opportunities. Because of the physical activity component, qualifying students will receive PE credit for this course. All in all, the Park City Skiing winter term is an opportunity you will not want to miss. This course is well suited to: 9-12 grade students with some athletic ability and a willingness to participate $1950 (includes day at Perfect North, airfare, lodging, ski rental, lift tickets, one Cost: extra activity TBD, transportation, some meals) Additional costs: Lunches and two dinners not included, additional activities may be extra Other Information: Students do not necessarily have to have ski experience before joining this Winter Term because a ski lesson/refresher course will be offered at Perfect North before leaving for Park City. All students will be required to either ski or snowboard.
