THE RULES: 1. Any 4-H’er in any program area is invited to participate in the Fashion Revue. 2. Participants who choose to sew, must sew their own garments, but are allowed some help where appropriate. (i.e. younger members, new skills, etc.) Participants must also write their own commentary with help where needed. 3. Cloverbud members projects should be simple and age/skill appropriate. Modeling may only consist of garments. Non-garment sewing projects should only be entered in the Fair. 4. Participants will be judged on their modeling at the Fashion Revue event. Cloverbuds are welcome to participate in the modeling and will be given suggestions. 5. Any member who receives a blue award on evaluation night can enter their project at the Dutchess County Fair and not have to be re-evaluated provided that a copy of the evaluation form is attached to the garment in addition to an EIS card. Any member receiving a red or white award may work on improving their item and enter it at the Fair to be re-evaluated. 6. Any member who receives a blue ribbon on both their garment and modeling could be eligible for State Fair; any member interested must designate their interest by the day of Evaluations.
SEWING EVALUATIONS: Evaluations are the first step of the Fashion Revue process. Club leaders must register their participants. Participants bring their garment(s) to be evaluated at their assigned time. Individuals not in a General Interest club can email their entries directly to the 4-H Educator. Once the youth have been judged, they can move on to the modeling stations where they will have an opportunity to practice modeling and using their props. Please bring everything that you will need for the show to practice with. Participants wishing to be considered for Fashion Revue at the State Fair will be evaluated at that time. CLOVERBUDS: All Cloverbud exhibits will be looked over by the judges and the children will get tips for their next year’s project. The children may be asked to explain their project to the judge. They will still need to have all of the required items with them!
WHAT TO BRING: 1. Change of clothes - Children should wear their normal clothes to the Evaluations. The evaluator will judge the garment- based on many things including fit, hems, and seams from the inside out! Youth will have the opportunity to change as the Evaluator will also look at the fit! 2. Original Patterns - Judges will need to see the pattern to evaluate how well it was followed or changes that were made. If more than one child used the same pattern they will be judged at separate times. (Please indicate whom the pattern was shared with on the registration form.) 3. Sewing Project Worksheets - Worksheets should be completed and ready to be turned into the judge at arrival. 4. Commentary – (3 Copies) Commentaries should be typed in a size 12 font on an 8 ½” by 11” sheet of paper. 2 copies should be turned in on Evaluation Night and the third can be kept in the Record Book.
