Pattern Fitting Taught by Janet English In this class you will learn to make a muslin that truly fits you. You will come out of this class with a pattern that you can use to purchase garments, make and adjust new patterns and make clothes that fit your body, along with some new sewing techniques! Pattern Fitting Classes, 2 Sessions Session I: What measurements to take to adjust a purchased pattern to your real body measurements. Learn to record on a chart. Transfer your measurements to a purchased commercial pattern. Adjust the pattern to accommodate all changes found. Cut out a muslin from the adjusted pattern. Session 2: Muslin should be basted together for fitting. Learn to adjust the muslin to perfect fit. Take muslin apart, make a paper pattern to fit. Learn how to use sewing lines and adjust your sewing technique with variable width seam allowances. You will come out of the class with a pattern that you can use to purchase garments, make and adjust new patterns and make clothes that fit your body, along with some new sewing techniques. Pattern Fitting supply list: A purchased pattern for a bodice, dress or pant that you would like to fit. See thru ruler at least 12” long (Dressmakers Curve, optional) Cloth tape measure Pins Scissors Marking pencil or pen 2-3 paper grocery bags or craft paper 2-3 yards of muslin fabric
