Jettie Helton honored on 95th birthday A surprise birthday luncheon was given at Friendship Progressive Primitive Baptist Church in Ararat, Va., on May 6 to honor Jettie Helton who recently turned 95. Jettie was born May 10, 1917. Hosting the celebration was her daughter, Mary Helton. In addition to the delicious food, Ms. Helton was presented a birthday cake as well as cards and well wishes. Everyone in attendance appeared to enjoy themselves. A family member said it is truly a blessing that Ms. Helton can still be active and involved with church and community activities. Jettie Helton honored on 95th birthday A surprise birthday luncheon was given at Friendship Progressive Primitive Baptist Church in Ararat, Va., on May 6 to honor Jettie Helton who recently turned 95. Jettie was born May 10, 1917. Hosting the celebration was her daughter, Mary Helton. In addition to the delicious food, Ms. Helton was presented a birthday cake as well as cards and well wishes. Everyone in attendance appeared to enjoy themselves. A family member said it is truly a blessing that Ms. Helton can still be active and involved with church and community activities. During the North Carolina Association of Educator’s Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Banquet on January 13, 2012 in Raleigh, Austin received a plaque showcasing him as a State Winner of Art Work for 6 - 8 graders in North Carolina. We certainly are very proud of his achievement and look forward to seeing Austin receive many more awards for his work in our community.
