Paul Figueroa Assistant Chief, Oakland (CA) Police Department Paul Figueroa began his career in law enforcement as an Oakland Police Cadet in 1991. He worked his way up the ranks at the Oakland Police Department and now serves as the Assistant Chief of Police. Mr. Figueroa has extensive experience in field command, criminal investigations, and community policing programs. He has served as the commander in the Patrol Division, Training Section, Internal Affairs Division, and Inspector General’s Office, and as Chief of Staff to the Chief of Police. He is a nationally recognized expert on procedural justice and police legitimacy. He regularly lectures on the topics of trust, community policing, effective training techniques, and police accountability.
