Impact, No Accident “Can I make an impact w/out a crash?”

Impact, No Accident “Can I make an impact w/out a crash?”

“They saw at once that she must be a real princess when she had felt the pea through twenty mattresses. So the prince took her to be his wife and they lived happily ever after. The End.” Nancy ended her daughter’s bedtime story with a kiss and promise of pancakes in the morning. Thinking back on the fairy tale she had just read, reminded her of how really small things in life can make such a huge impact. Take yesterday for example. She had been driving home on I-35 when a small rock flew up from another car’s tire and hit her windshield. Right away she noticed a small chip in her otherwise perfect windshield. By the time she made it home half an hour later the small crack had grown into a 14 inch snaking crack. She couldn’t believe it. One small stone had created a $350 repair. When she broke the news to her very frugal husband she was expecting a blow up on the scale of Old Faithful. However, what she got was more on the scale of a gentle spring. “Its o.k. honey, I’m glad you weren’t hurt,” he said and leaned in for a kiss.

I’m sure you can think of other examples where something small or subtle makes a large, lasting impact. Wouldn’t our relationships work better if we could make significant impressions using gentle means? Why take out the hammer when the tweezers will do?

The Bible describes women with a gentle spirit and what their significance can be. This week we will look at passages that help us to understand what kind of character has the most lasting impression. You may find that a woman of impact has a gentle spirit.
