Pendle View Primary School and Pendle Community High School Wingates Newsletter 2015 Wingates Residential Holiday 18-22 May We had a safe journey down to Wingates and when we arrived, we had our lunch in the big hall before unpacking the bus. We had a very exciting time finding our rooms to see who we were sharing with. Everyone was very helpful sorting out the bags, then we unpacked and got ready to go to the gym. From 3 to 4 pm we had a great time in the gym doing exercises, using the special equipment and going on the trampoline. Afterwards we
explored outside and played football and used the adventure playground. When it was time for tea, we all went into the dining room where we had delicious pizza, chips and beans followed by chocolate cake and sauce! Delicious! Afterwards it was time for a shower, then we got into our PJ ’ s and went to the playroom to watch a film. It was soon time to clean our teeth and get into bed for our first night at Wingates!! We had a very busy and exciting first day.

Tuesday: We visit Chester Zoo!! We had a great time at Chester Zoo. We saw lots of interesting animals and we especially liked seeing the giraffes being fed and watching Benjamin hold a butterfly. We were also very brave in the bat house, looking at big bats flying around in the dark!! They also smelled very unusual too!! The weather was very kind to us and we managed to miss the heavy rain while we had our picnic. After we had our tea at Wingates we went out to play and after our showers some children had their hair and nails done, while others watched “Ice Age.”
Wednesday !! North Staffordshire Adventure Playground Despite the fact that it rained during the morning, the children had a fantastic time playing at the Adventure playground. There were lots of bikes to ride and a wide range of equipment to play on, including a large indoor play area and ball pool. It was great having the freedom of the whole playground to play on and explore. On our way back to the Centre we stopped off at Snugbury ’ s for an ice cream! There was such a fantastic range of flavours, it was very difficult to choose. But we all agreed that whatever the flavour, all of our ice creams were extremely delicious!!

Wingates Residential Trip 2015
Thursday: Alton Towers !! We had lovely weather for our trip to Alton Towers and we had a great day. We split into three groups as some wanted to go on the fast rides, others wanted the medium rides and another group decided they would prefer a ‘ relaxed ’ pace. We all went to see the 4-D film “ I ce Age 4 ” , which was really good - and it even snowed on us!! The Congo Rapids were a great favourite too, despite the fact that we got wet when we sailed through a waterfall, but as it was a lovely sunny day, we soon dried off!!
In the Dining Room at Wingates! We enjoyed our dinners and breakfasts!

We had a great time! “Thank you”, to the Wingate Centre and to our brilliant staff team!! The children had a great holiday at the Centre, which improves each year, as the facilities are regularly developed and updated. The centre also very kindly provided the children with a lovely range of soft toys, books, red noses and gifts, which were placed on the children’s beds during the week away and were a lovely surprise. Many thanks to the Centre for being so generous and making us all very welcome. In addition, a huge ‘thank you’ must go to our excellent team of staff who made this holiday for the children happen. Without them kindly giving of their own time , we would not be able to offer our children this fantastic opportunity of going on holiday. Many, many thanks!!
Banny ’ s On our way home we had a lovely lunch at Banny’ s before returning to school!!
