FRIENDSHIP BAPTIST CHURCH MARCH, 2018
VOLUME 12, ISSUE 3
People Need The Lord “Everyday they pass me by, I can see it in their eyes. Empty people filled with care, headed who knows where? On they go through private pain, living fear to fear. Laughter hides the silent cries, only Jesus hears.” [Chorus] “People need the Lord, people need the Lord. At the end of broken dreams, He’s the open door. People need the Lord, people need the Lord. When will we realize, people need the Lord?” One of the goals of a time of missions emphasis is to remind us of our own mission field. My Pastor, Clifford Clark, used to challenge our church with this quote, “Don’t send a lamp to the mission field that will not burn bright at home.” With this goal in mind, we are going to spend a few weeks emphasizing our own responsibility of personal evangelism. In my message on February 11th, I used the “Parable of the Good Samaritan” in Luke 10 as an illustration/ comparison of those traveling “The Refugee Road”. Then I made this spiritual application to our own lives. Every day we encounter those traveling the Road of Life who have fallen victim to thieves (satan), who have robbed them, wounded them, and departed from them leaving them half-dead. Our responsibility as Good Samaritan believers is to have compassion on them, go to them, administer the proper cure (Eph 1:7), then bring them to a local New Testament church where they can be spiritually cared for.
As the Lord broke our hearts for the plight of the 65 million traveling the “Refugee Road”; As He burdened us for the 1 billion children around the globe living in poverty, most without physical and spiritual bread; May He also give us the love and compassion we need to reach out to those within our own sphere of influence.
“We are called to take His light, to a world where wrong seems right. What could be too great a cost, for sharing life with one who’s lost? Through his love our hearts can feel, all the grief they bear. They must hear the Words of Life, only we can share.” People (everywhere) need the Lord,
Pastor Klass
“His last command must continue to be our first priority!”
The light that shines farthest shines brightest at home.
