The Blackall Associated Agents yarded an incredible 6000 head of weaner and store cattle in the monthly store sale. The better judges describing the yarding as the best seen in modern times. Superb lines of steers and heifers filled the Blackall yards to the maximum. Special mention must be made of the Blackall Saleyard Managers David & Deanne Carter for handling the huge numbers in their calm professional manner “always a pleasure”. Heavy steers were once again in massive demand; best feeder’s topped at 194c/kg with plenty making mid to late eighties. Steers to return into the paddock topped at 230c/kg with the heavy 300kg Charolais or Santa calf reaching 220c/kg. Heifers were softer on previous rates best of the light veal topped at 190c/kg while the Woollies’ type feeder heifer topped at 188c/kg. Adams & Sons, “Darracourt" Blackall sold Simmental x steers for 201.2c/kg to 310kg to return $623.72 also selling Simbrah heifers for 178.2c/kg to 237kg to return $422.33 per head. WM & KL Burton, “Saltern Creek" Barcaldine sold Santa steers for 205.0c/kg to 269kg to return $551.45, also sold Droughtmaster cross heifers for 188.2c/kg 269.3kg to return $506.80. Chandler Grazing, "Hillalong" Barcaldine sold Charolais steers for 230.2c/kg to 213.6kg to return $491.81, also selling Charolais cross heifers for 189.2c/kg to 208.9kg to return $395.27.
