Philosophy of Missions “Our desire is to motivate and empower our body to engage the world with the gospel through missions.” PURPOSE: ENGAGING THE WORLD WITH THE GOSPEL At Legacy one of our desires is to take the Gospel to the world. This is a central piece of life at Legacy and of the Christian life in general. (Matt 28, Acts 1:8) STRATEGY: CHURCH DEVELOPMENT (PARTNERS AND PLANTING) We believe that the Church is God’s ordained messenger to the world and so as much as possible we want to connect directly with other churches to carry out God’s mission. At Legacy we want to be actively helping the Church develop around the world. INDIVIDUAL GOAL: EXPOSURE TO WHAT GOD IS DOING AROUND THE WORLD Missions have one primary goal (to take the gospel to a lost world), but missions impacts and influences other areas. One of our “sub” goals in missions is to have individuals exposed first hand to what God is doing around the world. We hope that as people are exposed to other people, cultures and needs their heart for God and others will grow. CHURCH GOAL: DEVELOPING A HEART FOR THE WORLD AND A MISSIONAL LIFESTYLE As a church we hope that participating in missions will enlarge and develop our heart as a church for taking the gospel to all who don’t have it and living daily in a missional lifestyle. Acts 1:8- …you shall be my witnesses… Romans 1:5- …to bring about the obedience of faith for the sake of His name among the nations… Isaiah 26:8 b- …your name and remembrance are the desire of our soul.
