The Phoenix Club will be selling entries to the third annual Phoenix Club Chopper Dropper for $100 each. Each entry sold entitles ONE PERSON access to the Elon Athletics Invitational Social after the golf tournament on Friday, August 5. The social will begin at 6:30 p.m. Each attendee who purchases a ticket to the social will be designated a numbered golf ball. At approximately 7:45 p.m. on Friday August 5, all numbered golf balls will be taken up in a helicopter and dropped on a designated drop zone. The twelve (12) golf balls closest to the pin will be awarded a cash prize! The complete prize breakdown can be seen below:

Official Rules
Date, Time and Place The Phoenix Club Chopper Dropper will be held Friday, August 5, 2016, at approximately 7:45 p.m. at Alamance Country Club in Burlington, N.C. Source of Funds for Winning Tickets All tickets will be sold prior to the Phoenix Club Chopper Dropper ball drop. Prize money for winning tickets will be provided by Phoenix Club Chopper Dropper ticket sales.*
Procedures Ball Certification
Standard golf balls of comparable weight and size will be numbered according to all designated golf balls. The golf balls will be audited by a representative from an independent accounting firm to ensure that all balls are present. The containers holding the golf balls will be stored in a secure location until the day of the event.
Ball Drop
The helicopter, with the balls, will take off and approach the drop zone where it will hover. The designated flight team member will release the balls from the containers. Once all balls have been dropped, determination of the winners will take place.
Winner Identification
A member of the Elon University Athletic Fundraising Department will maintain a master list of balls designated, the ticket’s assigned owner and contact information at all times. A pre-determined staff member of Alamance Country Club (ACC) and the independent accounting firm representative will be charged with measuring the balls that land closest to the pin. The ACC staff member, Elon University Athletic Fundraising Department member and independent accounting firm representative will approach the drop zone for the purpose of determining the winners. Based on the ACC staff member’s measurements, the Elon University Athletic Fundraising Department member , and aforementioned observers, will determine the grand prize winning ball based on which ball has landed closest to the designated flag pin and then the next winning ball, and so forth, until all winning balls have been determined. The ACC staff member, along with the Elon University Athletic Fundraising Department member, will certify all winning balls by signing a “Statement of Certification.” Winners will then be announced during the Elon Athletics Invitational Social and posted online at www.elonphoenix.com as soon as possible after the winning balls are determined. Winners need not be present to win.
Claiming of Prizes
In cases where a winner was not present at the social, or may not have visited the website, university staff will make all reasonable attempts to contact the winner via the contact information he or she provided on the Phoenix Club Chopper Dropper ticket information form. During normal business hours, winners may contact the Elon University Athletic Fundraising Department (The Phoenix Club) at (336) 278-6503. Any prize money not claimed by August 31, 2016 will be considered unclaimed and dedicated to student-athlete scholarships at Elon University through the Phoenix Club. Winners may be asked to complete a W9 form for tax identification purposes. Winners may be subject to Federal and State income tax withholdings.
