DIRECTIONS: Decide upon a unique theme for your collage then follow the steps below to complete the project. Check off each step as you complete it. When you are done, you will be submitting your work electronically, as an attachment, to Mr. Colestock.

Launch Photoshop Elements
Double-click desktop shortcut, or from the Start Menu

Launch the Photo Editor
Click PHOTO EDITOR

Choose Expert Editing Mode
❏
Make Layers Window Visible
Click EXPERT Mode
Click F11 or click LAYERS icon ❏
Create a New, Blank File
❏
Provide Name, Size, Resolution, and Background
FILE menu, NEW, Blank File...
Set the following values: ■ Name: collage ■ Width: 10 inches ■ Height: 8 inches Page 1 of 3
■ Resolution: 300 pixels ■ Background Contents: Transparent ❏
Make Graphics Window Visible Click F7 or click GRAPHICS icon

Insert a Background
In Graphics window, choose BY TYPE and BACKGROUNDS dropdowns Double-click to select a background you like

Insert 4-7 Images with Frames
In the Graphics window, choose BY TYPE and FRAMES dropdowns For each image you include in your collage: ■ Select a frame you like by double-clicking ■ Click inside the frame to use an existing image or drag an image into the frame from the Photo Bin. ■ Resize and rotate your image; afterwards, click the green checkmark to apply the transformation. ■ Rename the layer by double-clicking

Create and Style the Title Layer
Select HORIZONTAL TYPE tool from toolbar, then: ■ Click on canvas ■ Type the title ■ Increase size of text, change font, color, etc. ■ With MOVE tool selected, right-click on text, choose EDIT LAYER STYLE Style how you want, click OK

Create and Style the Author Layer
Select HORIZONTAL TYPE tool from toolbar, then: ■ Click on canvas ■ Type your first name and last initial

Save Image
FILE menu, SAVE FOR WEB Save with the following options:
Name firstnamelastinitial_collage.jpg; SAVE ❏
Save Project
FILE menu, SAVE; collage.psd; SAVE

Submit electronically to Mr. Colestock
Go to your Google account and compose an email: ■ To: [email protected] ■ Subject: Collage ■ Attachments: firstnamelastinitial_collage.jpg Do not put anything in the body of your message
