Accidental Landscape Date and Time of Class: ___________________________________________ Pattern Required: Accidental Landscape Pattern by Karen Eckmeier Fabric: 1/4 yard sky fabric 1/4 yard fusible interfacing 18 x 24 piece of batting. Strips of water and sand fabric: Scraps may be used, pieces should be minimum 3 x 9 inches for a vertical scene, or 3 x 13 for horizontal. A picture of a beach can be used for color inspiration, or have fun and make an abstract beach! Fabric scraps to make borders. 1 fat quarter for backing if making a mini quilt 1/4 yard fabric for binding if making a mini quilt A variety of threads for top stitching and decorating Top stitch needles Frixion pen Best Press Buttons, seashells, trims, embroidery floss, etc. to decorate your masterpiece (optional) Homework: Best press and iron your water and sand fabric strips, then cut them to 9" wide if making a vertical landscape, or 13" wide if making a horizontal one. You will want to use at least 2-3 water fabrics of varying values (light, medium, and dark), and 3-5 sand fabrics, also in a variety of values. These will be layered in class to create depth. When picking your strips you may consider if you want the viewer to be closer to the water (more water strips, less sand strips), or further from the shoreline (fewer water strips, more sand strips).
Equipment:
Sewing machine, owner’s manual, ¼” foot, marking pencil, thread to match project, seam ripper, scissors, rotary cutter, mat and 6 ½” x 24 ½”acrylic ruler, flat head quilting straight pins, pressing cloth, basic sewing supplies.
CLASS POLICY Payment is required upon registration. Store credit is given for any class you cannot attend only if Pieceful Quilting is notified one week prior to the class, afterward only if a replacement student can be found. No store credit will be given to students who cancel less than one week before class for any reason. Be sure to pick up the items on your supply list prior to class so you can be prepared with supplies and fabrics. Supply lists will be distributed when you register for the class. For classes cancelled by Pieceful Quilting you will receive a store credit or refund by check.
