Fabric note: Yardage is based on 40" wide fabric. Keep wedge cuts as close as possible. More fabric is needed if you cannot fit 18 wedges per strip set.

Stripes can be great fabric choice. Stripes that are parallel to the selvage radiate from the center (see our sample on page 2).

Stripes that are perpendicular to the selvage create a ring around the circle.

Assembly

• Align and pin the wedges together, matching the seam between the background and pumpkin color.

Always sew with ¼" seams!

• Sew the wedges into a circle.

Circle Applique

• Stabilize the center of the circle with a piece of freezer paper.

• Trace the circle outline found on page 3 onto the dull side of a piece of freezer paper. • Cut along the line.

• Iron the shiny side of the freezer paper to the back side of the fabric A square.

• Trim the fabric approximately a ¼" from the edge. • Wrap the fabric edges around the edge of the freezer paper and glue in place with a glue stick. • Center and pin the applique to the circle. • Stitch around the applique edge.

Leaf and Stem Appliques: Freezer paper technique:

Tendrils

Couch a cording or hand embroider tendrils around the leaves. Thin bias tape may also be an option.

• Refer to the instructions above to prepare the stem and leaf appliques. • Arrange them on the quilt in a manner similar to the photograph.

• Stitch around the edge of the applique. Raw Edge technique:

• Trace the circle found on page 3 onto a the paper side of fusible web. • Iron the non-paper side of the fusible to the wrong side of the fabric. • Cut along the line.

• Arrange them on the quilt in a manner similar to the photograph.  • Iron onto the quilt in position.

• Sew around the applique edge if desired. Layer, Quilt, Bind and Enjoy! Instructions for bias binding can be found on our website.
