Polychlorinated biphenyls CAS

1336-36-3

Current North Carolina AAL = 8.3 x 10-5 mg/m3 (annual carcinogen)

AAL Documentation Inhalation Unit Risk1 (IUR)

1.2 x 10-3 per µg/m3

=

The Inhalation Unit Risk Factor was divided by 10 to compensate for animal to human extrapolation. Modified IUR = 1.2 x 10-3 = 1.2 x 10-4 per µg/m3 10 Polychlorinated biphenyls are classified as a probable human carcinogen by EPA, Group B2. In accordance with North Carolina guidelines, a 1 in 100,000 risk estimate was used to derive the AAL. Linear Calculation

1 = x 3 1.2 x 10 per µg/m 1 x 10-5 -4

x=

1 x 10-5 1.2 x 10-4

x = 8.3 x 10-2 µg/m3 AAL for Polychlorinated biphenyls2

= 8.3 x 10-5 mg/m3
