Saturday, February 24th vs. Portland Winterhawks PINK IN THE RINK: Tonight’s contest will mark the Royals’ seventh annual Pink in the Rink Night. The club has enjoyed success during those games and has earned a mark of 5-1-0-0. Tyler Soy (1g-3a) and Matthew Phillips (1g-3a) lead all current Victoria players in points with four. Soy and Phillips are also tied with alumni Brandon Magee (2g-2a) and Austin Carroll (2g-2a) for the most points during Pink in the Rink games in Victoria history. CENTURY MARK: With an assist last night, Victoria captain Matthew Phillips (44g-56a) became the first Royal, and second player in franchise history, to reach 100 points in a season. Phillips is also just one point away from tying former Chilliwack Bruin Mark Santorelli’s franchise mark for most points (101) in a single campaign. The signed Calgary Flames’ prospect is in the midst of a franchise long 22-game point streak where he has tallied 41 points (16g-25a). NEARING HISTORY: Entering tonight’s contest, Victoria netminder Griffen Outhouse is one victory shy from tying the all-time franchise record for most career wins. Outhouse in his third season with Victoria (2015-present) and has earned 83 wins over 142 WHL games. Royals’ alumnus Coleman Vollrath, who played in 165 games with Victoria from 2012-2016, currently holds the record with 84 victories. Outhouse, who sits at 4,068 career saves, is also five stops away from breaking Vollrath’s (4,072) franchise mark for most career saves. POWERPLAY POWERHOUSE: Victoria tallied a man-advantage goal in last night’s contest versus the Winterhawks and have now scored on the powerplay a league-high 74 times this season. The Royals are a manadvantage goal shy from tying the Victoria record for most powerplay tallies in a season with 75, which was set in the 2015-16 campaign. The 2010-11 Chilliwack Bruins hold the franchise record for most powerplay goals in a single season as the club scored 83 man-advantage markers. MILESTONE MEN: Victoria’s Dante Hannoun and Mitchell Prowse will suit up in their 250th and 100th career WHL games respectively tonight. Over 249 games in his WHL career, Hannoun has recorded 202 points (76g126a), while Prowse has registered 26 points (3g-23a) in 99 career contests. A Delta, BC native, Hannoun was selected in the first round, 11th overall, at the 2013 WHL Bantam Draft. Prowse, a product of Kelowna, BC, was chosen by Victoria in the second round, 35th overall, in the 2015 draft. ALUMNI REPORT: Former Royals’ Captain and defenceman Ryan Gagnon, who is currently playing for the University of Calgary Dinos in U Sports, was named to the 2017-18 U Sports All Rookie Team earlier this week. The native of Quesnel, BC has tallied eight points (3g-5a) to go along with 56 penalty minutes in 27 games for the Dinos. Gagnon donned the Royals’ uniform for five seasons (2012-17) in the WHL, where he played in a franchise record 320 games and earned 56 points (9g-57a).
