POS Digital Installation

GENERAL INFORMATION. IMPORTANT NOTES AND PREREQUISITES.
Important Notes •
Please do only reinstall the player image after instruction by the POS.Digital 2nd level support!
•
The player will be reset to factory settings during the reinstallation process. All player settings will be lost!
Prerequisites •
Physical access on the POS.Digital media player.
•
Internet and power connection for the POS.Digital media player.
•
Personal computer with internet access.
•
USB stick with a minimum size of 8 GB
•
FTP client to access the exchange server and download the up to date package (e.g. FileZilla, WinSCP).
•
Win32 Disk Imager to create a bootable device (available online)

PROCESS OVERVIEW. STEP BY STEP GUIDE AND OVERVIEW
PREREQUISITES / SETUP

Get your preferred FTP client software. Connect to the FTP server and download all packages (POS.Digital player image, Win32 Disk Imager). URL:

User/Pass: posdigitalisoimage/<will be provided separately by the 2nd level support>
Connect the POS.Digital media player to the internet, an HDMI display and plug in the power supply. Extract the POS.Digital player image and the Win32 Disk Imager packages on your PC. Format the USB stick using device default settings.
PREPARE USB STICK

Format the USB stick. Install the POS.Digital player image on the USB stick using Win32 Disk Imager.
CONFIGURE MEDIA PLAYER

Setup the BIOS of the POS.Digital media player to enable the installation from USB. Make sure to revert the settings after the successful installation of the image (step 4).
INSTALL IMAGE

Install the POS.Digital player image on the media player. Afterwards setup the POS.Digital media player according to the standard process.

Plug in the USB stick.

Select the device (removable media) from the Windows Explorer (Shortcut:

•
Start the Win32 Disk Imager (Win32DiskImager.exe) •
Select the USB device via drop down list Device.
•
Select the image file (type *.iso) via the folder icon.
•
Press button Write to start the installation of the image on the USB stick.

Tasks •
Connect keyboard and display to the POS.Digital media player.
•
Connect a display, power and network to the POS.Digital media player. The player will start automatically.
•
Press F2 (multiple times) during start until the BIOS is displayed. •
If the POS.Digital InitBox is displayed, reboot the media player by shortly pressing the power button and try again.

Tasks •
Connect the USB stick with the player image to the POS.Digital media player.
•
(Re-)Start the POS.Digital media player.
•
Press F10 (multiple times) during start until the selection for boot devices is displayed
•
Select the USB device and press enter to start the installation.
•
Select “clonezilla live with img bmw_image…” from the list view and press enter.
•
Once the installation is finished, select reboot and press enter.
•
Remove the USB stick.
