HEAD COACH RICK S TOCKSTILL On the game vs. UTSA: We h ave to give them credit. They whooped u s today. In the first h alf they scored on the first four out of five possessions. We couldn’t stop them. We didn’t do good on defense. It was almost to where we h ad to score on every possession. The defense couldn’t get off the field. We weren’t very good on third down on either side of the ball. It wasn’t a pretty sight. We’re disappointed to lose key players, but we can’t make those excuses. On Brent S tockstill’s injury: He’ll be out for a while. On Carlos Johnson’s injury: He didn’t play the second h alf. He got h urt in the middle of the second quarter. On facing UTSA’s offense: We couldn’t stop them. They probably didn’t h ave ton of yards rushing, but we couldn’t stop them. It’s very frustrating right n ow. We missed some tackles today. People are just lining u p and running the ball on u s. We’re n ot getting any secondary support or making tackles. We’ve got a long ways to go these last three weeks of the regular season to get better. We’re better than what we put out there today. These last four or five games, people h ave been putting u p lots of points on u s, but we’ll get it corrected, I promise you. On what the team n eeds to do in practice this week: We h ave to get better, and that starts with coaching. We h ave to get our guys some confidence out there defensively. They look tentative and afraid to make a mistake on that side of the ball right n ow. We just aren’t playing very good. We’ve got to coach them better, and they’ve got to respond and play better. On John Urzua’s play at quarterback: That’s the second time h e played this season, and h e made some n ice throws. He also made some we wish h e’d h ave back. We n eed to do good job of getting h im ready to play this week. He’ll learn from the mistakes h e made tonight. RICHIE JAMES On moving on from this game: We h ave to come back tomorrow and get back to where we want to be. On offense we h ave to work h ard and h opefully play a better game n ext week. On facing UTSA’s defense: They were mixing u p their coverages pretty well. They were causing confusion and bringing some pressure. We knew they were a good team, but we just didn’t execute today. On teams picking u p on the MT offense: You can tell people are watching film on u s. They’re really studying our offense and knowing when we do little things. They pay attention to details. We h ave to continue to do the little things right. On John Urzua at quarterback: You h elp h im out and make plays for h im. You’ve got to get h im comfortable. He’s a good quarterback with a big arm, but we n eed to build h is confidence and carry it on the road n ext week. We h ave to give h im confidence throughout the week. He’s a good player; it’s us to u s to h elp h im out.

On moving forward from a loss: Coach Stockstill preached in the summer there will be lots of things that h appen in the season we can’t control. We lost, and we h ave to get it out of our system. We just h ave to play the n ext game. BRENT S TOCKSTILL On the team’s performance against UTSA: Obviously, we didn't play very well. We didn't play very well as an offense and I don't think we played very well anywhere across the board. They really just kicked our tail I guess you could say. You'll h ave those games. They were better than u s today but we'll bounce back and get better moving forward.
