Posting an Exam Once you have created an exam, you are ready to post it. This will make it visible to all Exam Takers (ETs) for download. 1.

Post an Exam Select ‘Post Exam’ Tab.

2.

Create an Exam Password Begin by creating an exam password (to prevent ETs from beginning the exam early). Choose a simple password that is easy to remember and to enter.

3.

Choose your Exam Settings Select the course to assign for the exam from the dropdown menu. Enter the instructor’s name. Enter the download start and end dates using the calendars. This will be the date range that an exam will be available for ETs to download. It is recommended to have the download end date include the examination day in case there is a problem and an ET needs to download the exam on exam day.

5.

Preview the Exam Scroll to the bottom of the page to see which items have been included in the exam. By clicking the ‘Save and Preview’ Button, you are able to view the exam within SofTest in a non-secure mode just as an ET would see the exam. In order to preview the exam, you will need SofTest installed on your computer.

You may choose to reorder the questions by entering the new sequence in the order boxes. Then click ‘Reorder’. 6.

Post the Exam When the exam and exam settings are finalized, select the ‘Post Exam’ button. Until an ET downloads the exam, you are able to delete an exam posting from within the CHP. Once an ET downloads an exam, the exam posting cannot be deleted. If you discover a mistake, change the download date to a retroactive date on the Custom Home Page. In this way, no additional ETs can access the exam. Create a new Exam (with a new name) or duplicate the previous exam, making your necessary changes and repost. Then, have ETs download this new exam posting. It is recommended that you provide a new exam password so ETs will not accidently take the wrong exam. Keep in mind that they will still have access to the first download on their computer. ETs will need to perform a reverse download to retrieve the file from their machine.

Additional Exam Settings:  Download/Upload Email Reminders (sent at 2am EST)  Upload Deadline (You can set the date and time.)  Exam Scheduled for (This date is important to ExamSoft for internal planning purposes. Please be sure to provide.)  Maximum Downloads (Set at ONE by default) 4.

Exam Review (Optional) ETs can review their results upon the completion of a secure exam. A password can be required and time limit imposed for ETs to review their exam. The default time limit is 30 minutes.  ‘Show Incorrect Answers Only’ = ETs can review only the items they answered incorrectly.  ‘Show Rationale’ = allow ETs to review the rationale entered for each question.
