Potts Feed Store’s 2013-2014 Horn Hoarders Contest Rules and Regulations:
Only deer harvested in Rains, Wood, Hunt, Hopkins, Franklin, Camp, Upshur, Smith, or Van Zandt counties may be submitted. There will be three divisions: Rifle, Archery, and Youth (under 16 years of age at sign up). Fees are $40 for adults and $20 for children (under 16 years of age). Your entry fee includes a Horn Hoarders t-shirt and one free dinner at our post-season awards banquet (see bottom of rules page and www.pottsfeedstore.com for more information). One hunter may enter two different divisions for $70. All contestants must submit a signed rule sheet before each respective season begins. Archery contestants must submit a signed rule th th nd sheet before Sept. 28 , Youth contestants by Oct 26 , and Rifle contestants by Nov. 2 . Each hunter must bring in their own deer for measurement. In addition, the current and correct tag must be attached to the deer, and it must be visible and filled out, before being transported to or from Potts Feed Store. The only exception would be in the event the meat processor keeps your tag, in which case a phone picture of your filled out tag on the deer will suffice. You must be ready to present your filled out hunting license if requested. Scoring will take place Monday-Saturday from 8 AM – 5 PM by an employee of Potts Feed Store (12 PM deadline on Saturdays in Quitman). No scoring will occur on holidays or Sundays. Only low fence deer will be accepted. This excludes high fence deer or deer taken from a low fence game ranch which artificially breeds deer for the purpose of selling hunts. th th th Deer will be accepted from September 28 - January 8 (Jan. 8 is the Wednesday following rifle season’s close). Because youth th nd nd season extends through January 19 , any deer entered into the youth category will be accepted up until January 22 (Jan. 22 is the Wednesday following youth season’s close). All Texas Parks and Wildlife rules must be followed. Any registered contestant caught cheating in the contest will automatically be disqualified, relinquish any prizes they may have won, forfeit their entry fees, and be disqualified from future big buck contests put on by Potts Feed Store. Potts Feed Store reserves the right to disqualify anyone on suspicions of cheating or suspected illegal harvesting of deer. We will not accept a mounted deer or skull unless there is undeniable proof that the animal was harvested in the 2013-2014 season. We prefer to see the whole deer or the head straight from the meat processor’s shop. The quicker we score it, the better. Participants agree to have their picture and name used on (but not limited to): radio, Facebook, in store displays, website use. All scoring and decisions made by a Potts Feed Store employee are final. Winners of the rifles must be able to pass a background check.
