Powerful Stories Of These Wrestlers Will Make You Feel Proud Sports Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) has been trying to start Pro Wrestling League since 2011, to promote the wrestling as a mainstream sport in India, and to give Indian wrestlers a platform where they can learn from fellow wrestlers by competing against them. Most of the fighters in India belong to a lower middle-class family. Hence, this platform will help them to earn a good amount of money as per the contract they sign to play for different teams.  Pro Wrestling league has brought in front some of the most exciting and powerful wrestler's stories; that will make you feel proud of their struggles. Let's try getting into the shoes of those fighters, who became an inspiration for our generation.

Born in Sonipat, the handsome and petite Amit Kumar started wrestling at the age of seven. Amit Kumar was a baby when he first represented his nation India in London Olympics, 2012. Many famous wrestlers around the world have claimed that this mat man has bright future ahead. He earned his fame after winning the gold medal in Commonwealth Games; that took place in Glasgow.

Geetika Jakhar

Inspired by her grandfather Ch. Amar Chand Jakhar, a wrestler of his time. She was introduced to the hardships of akhara at the age of 13. Geetika is one of the most successful wrestlers in India. In the year 2000, Geetika rose to more fame after beating Sonika Kaliraman to become Bharat Kesri in New Delhi, India. Geetika then in the year 2003 won a silver medal at Asian Championship and then one year later, she outperformed everyone to win the gold medal. In the Asian Championship in 2005, she won the silver medal, and later in the same year, she bagged one more silver medal after winning World Championship. Geetika Jakhar is the first Indian women wrestler to receive Arjuna Award from the Indian government, and she's also a senior police officer with Haryana Police.

Bajrang Kumar

When India was cheering for Sushil Kumar's glorious victory, Bajrang announced his arrival in the world of wrestling with a bang by winning the Asian Championship in 2013, New Delhi.  In the same year, he won the World Championship for India, by beating Mongolia's Nyam-Ochir Enkhsaikhan 9-2 in third and final repechage round. Born on February 26, 1994, the courageous wrestler had a chance to win a gold medal at the Asian Games at Incheon, but he lost the close match in finals and had to settle for a silver medal.

Geeta Phogat

Geeta Phogat who is twenty-seven-year-old has not only made the nation feel proud, but she's an inspiration for women in India. The biggest achievement added to her name is that she's the only women wrestler from India to reach Olympics. Her fighter father, Mahavir is her first coach, Geeta's success has inspired her younger sister Babita, and cousin Vinesh, who are on their way to sports stardom. Geeta has won Gold medal at the Commonwealth Games in Delhi. She's also a winner of bronze and the gold medal at the 2012 World Championship. Due to her leg injury, she stayed away from the mat for a long time. Any other athlete would have called it a day, but Geeta is made up of a different mettle. She made her comeback into the wrestling again and has won a bronze medal in 58kg freestyle Asian Championship in Doha.

Babita Kumari

Having wrestler father Mahavir, and Gita as an elder sister, Babita couldn't go anywhere else but wrestling. Both the sisters have achieved milestones in their lives and can be called as brand ambassador for women combat sports in India. Babita has won Silver Medal in Commonwealth Games, and by performing brilliantly in the next edition of the games, she earned a gold medal for India. She also earned a bronze medal in the World Championship, Edmonton in Canada to become the second Indian wrestler to win the World Championship. Alka Tomar was first Indian lady to win the first women Wrestling World Championship medal for India. Sisters who faced a lot of criticism for opting a sport that is only meant for 'men,' but today Babita and Gita are not just pride of their village, but they've in a way helped to raise the standard of sports for women in India.

Vinesh

At the age when people seek the help of a mentor to decide the fate of their career, Vinesh has already achieved that many athletes spend a lifetime to get. She's a winner of the gold medal at the Commonwealth, Glasgow and winner of a bronze medal at the Asian Games in Incheon, Korea. Extremely attractive, shy and modest athlete from Haryana is the youngest product of Phogat stable. Looking at Vinesh's achievements, everything seems possible for this slim Haryana girl. It is said every sport needs an icon, Vinesh has earned a status that will inspire the generations to come.
