BENEFITS Bel’s 0557-7700-xx family of coupling transformers have been developed for a wide range of applications based on the Intellon HomePlug™ 1.0 compliant INT5200 chipset. These transformers provide a low cost, high quality solution to simplify the implementation of HomePlug products. This family of products is desgined primarily to complement Bel’s 0804-5000-xx INT5200-based simple modules with additional support for low cost USB discrete designs being provided by 0557-7700-05 and 0557-7700-06. In wallplug and AC corded applications, a complete isolation and coupling solution is provided by a single part, selected according to application. Additionally, use of 0557-7700-11 or 0557-7700-12 enables operation over a DC line cord with a plugtop power supply.

The first transient protection stage limits large voltage spikes. For 115V networks a 240V MOV can be used. For 240VAC networks at least a 375V MOV should be used. High frequency isolation may be needed for switching power supplies with a capacitor across the line input. Most linear power supplies do not require additional isolation. The typical value of each of these inductors should be greater than 25uH. The inductors should provide good high frequency performance in the PowerPacket band (4-21Mhz).
