Practice and Game Scheduling – Things to Keep in Mind Each season, we support over 900 kids in our Spring/Summer programs. Needless to say, this is no small undertaking. For example, during the 2012 Spring/Summer season, we supported 81 teams, that utilized (13) baseball/softball fields across the Howell Michigan area. Our Game schedule coordinator was responsible for the scheduling of over 500 games during the 2012 Spring/Summer season. As I’m sure you realize, this can quickly become a very tedious task, especially when you get “difficult” weather which requires the re-scheduling of games during the season. Here are some things to keep in mind in reference to the scheduling of practices and games: 1) Although we try to be compassionate regarding other youth and adult activities, we cannot cater to special schedules or conflicts with siblings playing at the same time but on different fields. Due to the sheer number of games and practices that we schedule, this is just not possible, so please don’t ask. 2) When we create our schedules, we do our best to avoid Mother’s day weekend, Memorial Day weekend and Howell High School Graduation weekend. And while we do our best to avoid these dates, in some instances, they cannot be avoided. 3) When re-scheduling rained out games, we do our best to utilize the best available dates that will provide the least number of conflicts for each team. And while we will try to utilize Saturdays for our rained out make up games, we cannot guarantee that your rained out game will be made up on a Saturday. Once a decision is made as to when a rained out game will be played, we will communicate it to the affected teams via email and our website. Once again, we are not going to be able to accommodate everyone’s schedule as it relates to rain outs, so please understand this “from the get go”. In a nutshell, we as an organization want you to understand that due to the number of kids we support in our programs, and the number of fields involved, there will never be such a thing as a “perfect schedule” in anyone’s eyes. We ask that you be as understanding as possible where this is concerned and to be as “flexible” as you can be during the season.
