Praise for Learning Partnership All Hallows Catholic College, A National Support School working with St Alban’s Catholic Primary.
Teaching staff at All Hallows Catholic College, a secondary voluntary academy, took over the teaching for two days at St Alban’s Catholic Primary School to enable the primary school teachers to engage in a programme developing outstanding practice in teaching. The partnership between St Alban’s and All Hallows has been recently been praised by HMI Susan Wareing as an outstanding example of sharing good practice and school to school support. St Alban’s Catholic Primary School teachers have now been trained in the Teacher Effectiveness Enhancement Programme, also known as TEEP, which is delivered by specialist trainers at All Hallows. The exchange of teachers between the two schools over the two days has also given All Hallows’ teachers a real insight into the demands and rigours of primary education. Charlotte Clowes, acting Assistant Head at St Alban’s, who stayed in the school to supervise All Hallows teachers at work, said ‘All Hallows teachers took the role really seriously and planned excellent lessons and the children really enjoyed themselves.’ Meanwhile Lead Trainer and Deputy Principal Ann-Marie Connor said, ‘It was a privilege to work with such a highly motived staff team from St Alban’s – they are passionate about their teaching.’ Teresa Cooke, Headteacher of St Alban’s said ‘It’s been wonderful receiving such support from the All Hallows team and this training is an important part of our journey in developing excellence in teaching and learning.’ Mr Billings, Principal and National Leader of Education working with St Alban’s said ‘It is a great honour to be working with St Alban’s, we share the same values and ethos and there is a huge energy and enthusiasm amongst the staff to provide the very best for children and their families.’

Notes to the Editor 1. All Hallows Catholic College is a National Support School with the Principal, Mr Tony Billings, designated as a National leader of Education. The College is an all-ability voluntary academy educating boys and girls from 11-18. 2. St Alban’s is a Catholic primary school in Macclesfield and a member of All Hallows Learning Community. 3. The innovative work being shared between the two schools is a rare example of primary-secondary cross phase work and it is making a positive difference to teacher knowledge and learning in both schools.
