MISSION FIRST! What is your church doing in the community? We want to know! Email [email protected] a list of your mission efforts, plus one story of a life affected. Share every ministry, with the monthly or yearly numbers that fit it: shawls knitted, quilts made, people served by your food bank or hot meals, number of volunteers or hours or children served in tutoring at-risk children. Stories will be featured one by one, in the Mini-Messenger and the Messenger.
PENTECOST SPECIAL OFFERING The Pentecost Offering supports Disciples new church development. Planning, nurturing and sustaining new congregation is part of the Disciples’ vision. Half of gifts received by a region remain in that region; the balance supports the work of general new church efforts, including training new church planters.
ODYSSEY RETREAT Attention men of all ages! Mark your calendars for Odyssey retreat, Aug. 11-12 at the Disciples Center at Tawakoni. The Odyssey Project is a Kansas Disciples Men’s endeavor to intentionally help boys, their father figures, and men in general, to develop Christ-like character. Registration information coming soon!
FALL RETREAT REGISTRATION OPEN! Make plans to attend one of these life changing events: Kansas Disciples Men’s fall retreat is Friday - Saturday, Sept. 29 - 30, at Tawakoni. Register by Sept. 8 and pay online, www.kansasdisciples.org/disciples-men-fallretreat/, or download registration form and mail with payment to the Topeka Regional Office. Kanas Disciples Women’s fall retreats are Wednesday - Friday, Oct. 4 - 6 and Friday - Sunday, Oct. 6 - 8. Register by Sept. 5 and pay online or download the form and mail with payment: www.kansasdisciples.org/disciples-women-fall-retreats/.
POOL RENOVATION: The refurbished swimming pool is nearly finished! It is being filled, and the works tested before our first campers arrive next week. Fundraising is going well. So far more than $150,00 has been given for this effort, and about $130,000 remains to be raised. This is actual dollars so far, and does not include amounts pledged but not yet received. Thank you for your generosity toward this project.
KANSAS MESSENGER: The next edition of the Kansas Messenger will be emailed on Tuesday, May 30. Both the Kansas Messenger and the Kansas Mini-Messenger may be printed for posting and distribution to new members, home-bound members, and others who do not get email.
