This     coming  Sunday  we  will  take  a  break  from  the  Sermon  on  the  Mount,  and  look  at  1  Peter  1:22-‐2:3,  where  Peter  calls  the   exiled  believers  to  love  one  another  since  they  have  been  born  again  by  the  imperishable  Word  of  the  Lord,  which  remains   forever.  Because  of  this  supernatural  birth  brought  about  through  the  living  and  abiding  word,  the  believer  has  been  freed  and   commanded  to  love  one  another  earnestly  from  a  pure  heart.

PRAYING  FOR  GOD’S  GLORY   Pray   that  as   citizens   of   God’s   kingdom,   we  would  live  p eaceful   lives,  not  retaliating  in   light  of   offenses.   Pray   especially   that   within   the   family   of   Christ   Covenant,   there   would   be   a   spirit   of   unity   and   harmony   rather   than   conflict   and   fighting.  Pray  that  God  would  give  you  humility  to  trust  him  and  respond  in  p eace,  even  when  you  are  wronged.   PRAYING  FOR  GOD’S  PEOPLE   This  week  we  will  be  praying  for  Northpark  Church  (North   Raleigh)  and  their  pastor  Anthony  Braswell.  Please  pray  for   these  brothers  and  sisters  throughout  the  week.  Also  pray  for   the  following:   Day  1:  Pray  for  pastors/members  of  Northpark  Church,  that   their  gospel  love  would  stand  in  stark  contrast  to  the  darkness   of  sin.  Pray  that  they  would  be  a  b lessing  to  their  community   as  they  reflect  Christ’s  love.  Pray  that  the  Word  of  God  would   be  taught  faithfully  in  the  church  each  week.   Day  2:  Pray  for  the  Jobs  for  Life  (JFL)  ministry  in  Raleigh.  This   program  focuses  on  helping  those  in  poverty  to  be  able  to  find   and  keep  jobs.  JFL  includes  gospel  content  as  part  of  its   curriculum,  so  that  the  ministry  is  a  holistic  approach  to   helping  those  in  need  in  the  community.  Please  pray  for  the   success  of  this  ministry  in  the  churches  that  host  it  around   Raleigh  and  the  Triangle  area.   Day  3:  Pray  for  tutors  and  workers  for  the  ministry  to  the   Karen  refugees  in  our  church.  Pray  that  God  would  raise  up   more  people  with  a  heart  to  serve  and  disciple  in  this  way.   Day  4:  Pray  for  Luke  Akins  as  he  p repares  to  teach  this  coming   Sunday  from  1  Peter  1:22-‐2:3.  Pray  that  the  Spirit  would  give   insight  and  direction  in  his  study  (1  Cor.  2:12-‐13).   Day  5:  Pray  for  the  men  of  Christ  Covenant  Church,  that  they   would  be  growing  in  the  fruit  of  the  Spirit,  that  husbands   would  love  their  wives,  fathers  would  shepherd  their  children,   and  all  would  be  pure  and  unquestionably  upright.   Day  6:  Pray  that  we  God  would  give  members  of  CCC  grace   and  courage  to  share  our  joy  in  the  gospel  with  those  who  do   not  know  Christ.  Pray  that  the  Spirit  would  use  our  witness  to   convert  sinners  and  make  disciples.

PRAYING  FOR  GOD’S  WORLD   This  week  we  are  praying  for  the  advancement  of  the   gospel  among  the  people  in  Tajikistan  a  mountainous   country  sandwiched  between  China  and  Afghanistan.   Please  use  this  information  to  inform  your  prayers,  taken   from  Operation  World  (available  in  the  bookstore):       Religion                                   Pop  %   Ann  G r   Christians   73,578   1.04   -‐2.2   Evangelicals   6,952   0.1   6.9   Muslim   6,645,402   93.93         Although  Islam  is  the  religion  of  94%  of  the  population,   only  a  small  fraction  practice  “pure”  Islam.  Most  are  more   influenced  by  folk  superstitions  and  Zoroastrian  beliefs.   Mosques  sprouted  up  everywhere  in  the  years  following   independence,  but  now  the  government  places  severe   restrictions  on  mosque  building.  Tajikistan’s  proximity  to   Iran  and  Afghanistan  makes  it  vulnerable  to  Islamism.  Pray   for  extremism  to  be  restrained,  and  that  Muslims  might   have  unprecedented  opportunities  to  discover  Christ.     Freedom  of  religion  exists,  but  barely.  The  government,   to  prevent  the  growth  of  extremism  in  Islam,  introduced   many  restrictions  that  place  a  stranglehold  on  Christian   ministry.  Religious  teaching,  publishing  and  proselytism  is   made  very  difficult  if  not  illegal.  Registering  churches  is   also  very  difficult.  Pray  for  the  gospel  to  spread  and   Christians  to  find  ways  to  teach  and  minister  despite  these   harsh  restrictions.
