Prehistory Overview & Study Guide Big Picture: Peopling the Earth: The first big event in this course is the spread of humans across the earth. This is the story of how communities of hunters, foragers, or fishers adapted to their changing environments in Africa, Eurasia, Australia and the Americas.

Agricultural/ Neolithic Revolution: Over a period of thousands of years, humans learned how to grow crops and domesticate plants and animals. As a result of their development of agriculture, some human groups became sedentary with the earliest settlements developing in the present-day Middle East and Turkey. Human population rose, cultural patterns came more complex, and opportunities for innovation increased. Agriculture spread as societies came into regular contact with each other over long distances.
