People’s Climate March Partner with March For Science Atlanta on Earth Day

ATLANTA (April 13, 2017) — The momentum of the marches continue since Trump took office in January. April holds two major protests against the current administration’s attempt to undermine scientific evidence in favor of political ideology. March For Science Atlanta and the People’s Climate March are both set to take place on consecutive weekends at the end of April. March For Science Atlanta is a sister march of the national organization in Washington D.C. and will take place in Candler Park on Earth Day, April 22 12pm – 4pm. Climate change advocates and environmental groups in the Atlanta area are partnering with the March for Science Atlanta on the weekend before they head off on rally buses for the People’s Climate March in Washington D.C. on April 29. Climate Change advocates and related environmental groups (i.e. energy equity, environmental justice and climate justice) are being asked to attend the March for Science in this historic event. The basis for Climate Change is the science of the interdependency of our ecosystem and how we must make the correct choices to minimize greenhouse emissions and mitigate climate impacts especially for vulnerable populations. Climate advocates are being asked to wear “Green” T-shirts and to embrace the theme of Zero Emissions/Carbon Free Transportation including bike riding, skateboards or roller skates, non-motorized scooters, and of course walking. Details related to transportation options to Candler Park on April 22 for March For Science Atlanta, route details, facilities, stage location, water stations, handicap accessibility, speakers, vendors, and sponsors can be found on the March For Science Atlanta website. Details related to ticket prices for the bus ride to the People’s Climate March in Washington D.C. can be found here. There are currently over 300,000 people and 200+ buses secured to transport people to the nation’s capital for this event. Members of the media are invited to attend and interview can be arranged prior to the event. To schedule an interview, contact Nadia Lelutiu, 678-642-6972, [email protected].
