PRIZE WOMEN’S MINISTRY FIGHTS FOR VICTIMS OF HUMAN TRAFFICKING WITH RUNNING TO RESCUE 1K/5K RACE Walk/Run Race Plans to Raise Awareness & Funds Benefiting The A21 Campaign

LUBBOCK, TX – Prize Women’s Ministry is taking a stand against human trafficking by hosting their first annual Running to Rescue race on Saturday, June 9 at Vintage Township – 114th and Quaker Ave. The primary focus for hosting Running to Rescue is to increase awareness on what human trafficking is and to raise funds to assist rescue efforts for The A21 Campaign. Running to Rescue race will provide Lubbock and the surrounding areas an opportunity to reach into the dark and horrific world of human trafficking to make a life-changing impact for “its” victims. The ministry is setting a minimum goal of $25,000 to directly benefit A21.

With more than 27 million people trapped in modern day slavery worldwide and with human trafficking having been reported in all 50 states of the U.S.1, Prize Ministry is utterly shocked by the frightening truth of these facts, realizing that every number represented in these statistics signifies a human life. “27 million is almost impossible to fathom. As long as there is one victim of human trafficking, that’s all the motivation I need,” Director of Prize Women’s Ministry, Gloria Toti said. “I’m ready to fight for what is right.” -more1

Running to Rescue 1K/5K race to bring awareness on human trafficking According to the United Nations, every 30 seconds someone becomes a victim to human trafficking. It is our hope that individuals will not only donate and run for the cause, but that they will also become well informed advocates who will continue being a part of the solution by educating those around them. A good defense against crime is knowledge and when awareness is raised, it could mean that fewer people will become targets. “A trafficking journey typically involves deception, rape, beatings, and constant threats,” Toti said. “A victim is often forced to service 40-110 customers in one day. This struck a chord so deep in my soul, compelling me to commit to doing my part to rally everyone I know to fight against this injustice.” The A21 Campaign is an organization of individuals who were taken back by the gruesome statistics of human trafficking; in 2008, they opened their first shelter in Greece which is dedicated to assisting victims of modern day slavery. The A21 Campaign works closely with various partners in Europe, Australia and the USA to offer aid to victims and equip them with the necessities to move forward with their lives with various transition programs and shelters. Running to Rescue race is offering a 1K or 5K walk/run; strollers and families are welcome. Registration is $12 for individuals and $10 per person with a team of 6 or more through May 31. ### Prize is the women’s ministry at Trinity Church. Prize is defined as anything taken from an enemy in war and through that definition Prize’s mission is to encourage women to press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called them heavenward in Christ Jesus. Prize ministry seeks to reach women wherever they are at on their journey and gently nudge them to become more involved in seizing their own personal prize relationship with a God who loves them.
