Suspects Arrested for Thefts from Motor Vehicles

On Monday, December 19, 2016, at approximately 8:30 p.m., the Manhattan Beach Police Department was dispatched to the 1900 block of Oak Avenue regarding two suspects attempting to open car doors to various cars in the area. The reporting party stated the two suspects were hiding behind a car in the area. One of the responding officers located the suspects in the 1400 block of Oak Avenue. When the officers contacted suspects, the officers learned one of the suspects was on probation and had a felony warrant for possession of a stolen vehicle. The second suspect was on also probation for possessing a stolen vehicle. The officers located stolen property on the suspects which came from a theft from a motor vehicle that occurred in the 600 block of 14th Street. When officers checked the area, they located 3 vehicles which had been ransacked. Rudy Padilla and Oscar Jesus Machado, both 19 years old and both from Lawndale, were arrested and booked at the Manhattan Beach Police Department for probation violation, theft from motor vehicle and conspiracy. The Manhattan Beach Police Department wants to remind you to always lock your vehicle, bring your valuables into your house and be vigilant to any suspicious activity on your block.
