$40,000 Donated for the Lone Survivor Foundation’s Wounded Warrior Retreats Tyler, Texas (April 2011)—The Boot Campaign is humbled to announce a $40,000 grant to the Lone Survivor Foundation. This donation was made possible by the sale of the Boot Campaign’s signature “give back” boots—100% of the net proceeds from the sale of combat boots are donated to military charities, including the Lone Survivor Foundation. The $40,000 grant will go toward the Foundation’s wounded warrior retreats. The wounded warrior retreats are held on a variety of host ranches in Texas. Activities include hunting, fishing, marriage strengthening workshops and equestrian therapy. “The Lone Survivor Foundation is excited about the partnership with the Boot Campaign and this initial grant which helps us achieve our mission of helping Wounded Warriors and their families through therapeutic and wellness activities at our monthly retreats. Using this funding we are able to bring in therapists trained to work specifically with Veteran’s and their families to help in the adjustment and healing process to improve their quality of life.” – Amy Miller, Lone Survivor Foundation Director If you know of a soldier and his/her family that could benefit from a Lone Survivor Foundation wellness retreat, please contact NeverQuit@ LoneSurvivorFoundation.org.”
LONE SURVIVOR FOUNDATION Founded by Navy SEAL (Ret) Marcus Luttrell, the Lone Survivor Foundation welcomes home, empowers and restores American Wounded Warriors and their families. The Foundation also strives to encourage Hometown USA to ‘pay it forward’ to our troops. The Lone Survivor Foundation is raising funds to build a wellness retreat in East Texas. The facility will be located on 1,000+ acres of Texas ranch land and will encompass physical and emotional wellness actives for the wounded soldier and his/her family. Until the ranch can be built, LSF is facilitating special experiences for wounded soldiers throughout the country. Such activities include—travel to military funerals, hunting expeditions and a military marriage retreat. www.lonesurvivorfoundation.org
THE BOOT CAMPAIGN The Boot Campaign is a grassroots initiative started by five women from Texas known as the Boot Girls. The Boot Campaign provides an easy and tangible way for Americans to show support for our troops (both past and present) that’s practical and directly benefits our military who are returning home from active duty. Proceeds from boot sales are donated to partner charities, including the Lone Survivor Foundation, which assist returning veterans dealing with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and varying degrees of physical injuries. www.bootcampaign.com
