Prestwood Village Primary Schools Federation Proposal - 7th November – 19th December 2016

7th November 2016 A PROPOSAL TO FEDERATE PRESTWOOD INFANT SCHOOL AND PRESTWOOD JUNIOR SCHOOL FROM AUTUMN TERM 2017 The purpose of this letter is to inform you of a proposal to establish a Federation of Prestwood Infant School and Prestwood Junior School. Under the proposed federation, a single Senior Leadership Team and one Governing Body would be set up to oversee the Prestwood Village Primary Schools, but the two schools will keep their individual identity and operating sites. Before proceeding further, both schools are seeking feedback on the proposed federation from stakeholders including parents/carers, staff, members of the community, unions, and the Local Authority over the next six weeks. You are invited, and encouraged, to comment and feedback between Monday 7th November and Monday 19th December 2016. A detailed document explaining what a Federation is, what the Governing Bodies are proposing and the benefits to both schools is attached and copies are available on the websites of each school and in the reception area at each school. We will send you paper copies of the document by request; please contact the office at either school for a hard copy. There is also a “Frequently Asked Questions” document and a form for you to complete to put forward your views. The teaching and non-teaching staff would remain at their sites, and specialist staff may work at a specific site or across the two sites depending upon the resourcing requirements. In addition to the detailed proposal document, the governors have organised drop-in sessions where further information about the proposed federation can be gained and questions posed. For the parents/carers of pupils and other interested parties, these sessions are open to everyone and will be held at: • Prestwood Infant School on Thursday 1st December 2016 9.00am – 10.00am • Prestwood Junior School on Tuesday 6th December 2016 7.00pm – 8.00pm Sessions will also take place to further discuss the proposal and seek feedback from staff at both schools. We would really appreciate your contribution to shaping the proposed federation. Do please complete the response form in the federation proposal. Copies of the form are also available at the school receptions. Please send us your comments and questions by Monday 19th December 2016. We wish to confirm that federation is considered by both governing bodies as the best way of enhancing the education of young people in the village of Prestwood and surrounding areas.
