Primary Newsletter—19th January 2018 Dear Parents, Another very busy week here at Primary! The children have been learning a variety of things during the week including having the opportunity to explore rocks and fossils in Year 3. The second Cross Country of the academic year will be held on Saturday 24 th February for Year 3 at Quex Park. There is further information later on in the newsletter regarding entry— all Year 3 pupils will have brought a letter home with them.

Can I once again remind parents that when you enter the school site you should be only turning left onto Hope Way. When exiting Hope Way again, you should be turning left out of Hope Way. The speed limit on the school site is 5 miles per hour. We have noticed an increase in speed around the carpark and I would ask all drivers on the Primary School site to adhere to the 5 miles per hour speed limit for the safety of everyone. We are busy planning for World Book Day and St George’s Day and you will find information regarding dressing up on these days in the newsletter. We won’t be in school on Shrove Tuesday so will be holding our Pancake races on Friday 9 th February for Years R, 2 and 3. Year 1 will be racing on Thursday 8th February due to their school trip on the Friday. On Friday 9th February we would like to invite you to join us for coffee and pancake races from 9.20a.m. onwards. We may even have a parents race! Have a lovely weekend. HEADTEACHER THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK “The goal for today is to go a little bit further than yesterday. It’s that simple.” As we move through term 3 I would like to thank those of you who have commented positively on the work that is being done with the children. It is great to see so many of you taking an active part in their learning with support at home and using our curriculum newsletter effectively. It is all about small steps, and every bit of help with reading and writing makes the difference. It is also great to see so many of you wanting to support us within the school day, on school trips and through various other activities. The quote this week really does highlight how small steps can eventually turn into something fantastic. This is definitely true from the work that I have seen from the children this week. Therefore, this week’s newsletter is dedicated to each of you for your continued support of the school, the children and the staff. For this I am personally very grateful.
