Whatever your color choices, it’s important to choose contrasting colors and prints when selecting fabrics. Block templates measure about 16 – ¾” x 22” and 16 – ¾” x 23 – ½” (with crown) Fabric Requirements 5/8 yard each of 25 or 26 fabrics for ALL the frog blocks and scrappy border OR: 2/3 yard cut down the fold of 21 or 22 fabric for the toads and ¾ yard cut down the fold of 4 fabrics for the princes 6 “ x 12” cream wool for eyes 4” x 7” black wool for eyes 5/8 yard binding 4 yards backing
Note: I used fat quarters, making sure they were 22” x 18” (one fat quarter for each toad). They were snug, but worked. The Prince Charming blocks require 1/3 yard. I also made all the hearts red, which made layering much easier and satisfying. ¼ yard red is required if you do that. If you choose to use fat quarters, there isn’t fabric for the scrappy border. I also used fabric for the eyes rather than wool. Preparation before class: Press all fabrics so they are ready to stack and cut. I will furnish you with the toad and toad prince pattern traced on freezer paper as well as templates for the eyes for prepared turn applique. Early registration discount: All students who register at least one week before class starts are eligible for a 20% discount on their class supplies.
