Do not post private information about incidents, victims, suspects, or informants. Only the police and district representatives should release the appropriate information.

Do not trust or react to unverified posts on social media. Unless it comes from Midway ISD or the police, it may not be true.

Below are safety procedures you and your child need to know to remain safe. In an emergency, school personnel will implement these procedures.

When there is a hazardous material released, air systems are discontinued and doors and windows are closed. Shelter in Place typically allows for free movement within the building. It is also used when there is a risk or threat outside the campus.

Communication and collaboration with local police and fire departments, including opportunities for these entities to train and perform drills on MISD facilities Clear and accurate surveillance security cameras both inside and outside the buildings Secure visitor access procedures, including visual facial identification and ID screening Emergency alert systems., with immediate notification to staff, SRO’s, and 9-1-1 Increased presence of trained police officers, with enhanced response time. Primary, alternate and handicap evacuation routes, with newly updated classroom maps Pre-determined evacuation sites off campus Ongoing training for staff Procedures for staff and students for emergency situations, severe weather, fire and lockdowns Consistent schedule of practice drills including evacuation, reverse evacuation, lockdown, shelter-in-place, and severe weather drills Administrator knowledge of utility access and shut-off points Safety “go bags” in each classroom with basic first aid supplies, class rosters, flashlight, etc. Administrators trained in FEMA’s National Incident Management System Implementation of the Incident Command System until relieved by first responders Ongoing Assessment of hazards, with plans to reduce the probability of hazards causing an emergency situation, or lessen the consequences of unavoidable hazards

OUR MISSION

The mission of MISD in an emergency or disaster is to protect lives, mitigate the effects of the situation, fully prepare for various types of situations, respond quickly and effectively to emergencies, and aid in recovery from these situations.

OUR PLEDGE

We are going to give you all the information we possibly can so you have confidence in our schools and students’ safety. When the situation is influx and changing rapidly, we will only share new information once it is confirmed. All too often in stressed and strained situations, inaccurate information is shared.
