Proclamation - Arts Benicia's 30th Anniversary
PROCLAMATION IN RECOGNITION OF
ARTS BENICIA’S 30th ANNIVERSARY
WHEREAS, Arts Benicia was established as a nonprofit organization in 1987 to stimulate, educate and nurture cultural life in Benicia through the visual arts; and WHEREAS, Arts Benicia was recognized and designated by the City Council as the “official arts body of the City of Benicia” on August 2, 1998; and, WHEREAS, the Arts Benicia Gallery has provided magnificent and world-class exhibitions of art in Benicia, rivaling the quality of exhibitions shown in San Francisco and other large cities; and WHEREAS, Arts Benicia has evolved from a studio to being a multi-faceted organization providing classes, programs for schools, an annual Open Studios program, and other experiences, providing a center that helps art thrive in our community; and WHEREAS, for 30 years, this community-based non-profit has been providing exhibitions, educational programs, and classes that support artists and engage the broader community. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT I, Elizabeth Patterson, Mayor of the City of Benicia on behalf of the City Council, do hereby recognize the cultural value of Arts Benicia and the contributions it has made for 30 years in promoting and providing excellent art to the community. I encourage all residents to visit Arts Benicia to take advantage of the wonderful resources it provides.
