Peoples Kenpo Karate Although we honor martial arts traditions that go back centuries, we are not static. We constantly seek new and innovative ways to motivate and excite our students. Kenpo karate is the most practical of all martial arts and its origins date back thousands of years.

Peoples Kenpo Karate Building Qualities That Last a Lifetime

Statistics tell us that one out of every three children will be bullied before the age of ten. At PKKA, we understand how frightening and overwhelming this can be. Although non-violence is always the primary goal, having skills to defend themselves is what we want for young martial artists. Children learn to defend themselves by asserting themselves, understanding the bully mentality, never looking like the victim, and defending themselves in close and on the ground. Highly aggressive children or those with ADHD may have as much trouble fitting in socially as the shy child. PKKA welcomes all children and works to form confident, self-controlled children. Children are this country’s greatest natural resource. Every child at Peoples Kenpo Karate is special and treated as such. With patience, understanding, and firm positive instruction, your child will grow as a martial artist and a human being.

Sensei Mark Barnes has been actively involved in martial art for 41 years. He has trained under three different martial arts systems. During that time he has competed internationally and nationally. Sensei Mark has received many awards and honors including his 5th degree master Shihan degree under the Peoples Kenpo Karate Association. Sensei Mark ran his own school for 15 years teaching students age 3-70. He continues his own training as well as training others. Outside of martial arts, Sensei Mark enjoys spending time with his family, outdoor activities, and life in general.
