Reading and Writing Perspectives - Prompt “UNLESS someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It’s not.” ~ Dr. Seuss Topic: Protecting our Planet Targeted Grade: 4th
Goal: Students should be able to understand the importance of protecting our planet and the efforts that can be made in order to do so.
Assignment: As time passes it becomes more and more important that we make an effort to protect and preserve the planet we live on. Use examples from The Lorax, Where Does the Garbage Go? and the current events article to answer the following questions. Explain why it is important to take care of our planet (What happens when we do not protect our planet?) Explain what people have done in order to protect and preserve our planet. What can you do in your own neighborhood/ life to take part in protecting and preserving our planet?
You will be writing this essay in order to inform other students (audience) about why and how we protect our planet (purpose).

5 paragraphs (introduction, 3 body paragraphs, conclusion)
