BOYS AND GIRLS CLUBS MAKE A DIFFERENCE EVERYDAY!
While school may let out at 3 p.m., learning for members at the Boys & Girls Club continues long after the last bell rings. The Learning Center is open daily, with staff offering homework help and educational programming designed to keep kids engaged. Such efforts have a profound impact on members. According to the BGCA Harris Survey: • 2 8% of Club alumni say that they would have dropped out of high school had it not been for their involvement in a Boys & Girls Club. • 90% of BGC alumni graduate high school. • 33% are the first in their family to attend college. Boys & Girls Clubs have a strong commitment to teaching character development and instilling a sense of community in youth of all ages. BGCVB gives members opportunities to volunteer and serve others. Projects include local clean-ups, serving meals to the needy, honoring veterans, and more. • 7 5% of alumni nationwide continue to remain active in the communities where they live. • 8 1% say their participation at a Club played a role in teaching them civic responsibility and the importance of volunteering.
Thousands of youth have taken part in the various BGCVB sports programs over the years. Participation helps children and teens learn the values of discipline, hard work, and being a part of a team. Sports such as baseball, basketball, and soccer also help kids to stay active and develop lifelong healthy habits.
